While Stanton collected a promising cast for his film, the reviews out of its Sundance debut were bleak. And we can confirm, this movie is a mess. Imagine Black Mirror without nuance or Cloud Atlas without ambition, and you'll have some idea. The Neanderthal plot, which features no modern dialogue, is the most impactful thread.
